Support Needed for New Bush School

Dear BSD Parents/Guardians, Staff, Community Members, and Supporters of Early Childhood Education,
Several weeks ago, we asked for your support in making public comment at a meeting of the New Castle County Planning Board regarding the donation of a portion of the Brandywine Country Club to the Brandywine School District. Numerous BSD supporters joined the virtual meeting to voice their support of the rezoning application that also contains the donation of approximately 44 acres of the property to the District. Unfortunately, and to our surprise, the Chairperson of the Planning Board asked those in attendance to refrain from making any public comment regarding the donation of the property to the District.A group of individuals is seeking to oppose the dedication of the land to the District in the belief that the land would better serve the Brandywine Community as a park or woodlands, instead of the District's intent to build a new state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Center on a portion of the site. It is imperative that the members of the Planning Board be informed of the desire of the community at large to approve the rezoning application and the donation of the 44 acres to the District before their October 13, 2021, meeting in which the approval vote is scheduled.
Our ask is simple: please pay it forward. Twelve years ago, your fellow neighbors came together to support the expansion of Bush at the current Hanby site to afford your child the high-quality experience they received at Bush. Now it’s your turn to rally the community for our new birth through Kindergarten Early Education Center.
Please find the time to send a written letter of support to the New Castle County Planning Board.
BSD will likely never get another opportunity for a 40 plus acre land donation to build a school for children!CLICK HERE to access:
