Dear BSD Community,
Welcome to BSD! I am delighted to serve as your Superintendent and proud of the work we have accomplished over the past several years. Our District has many points of pride - outstanding performing and visual arts, award-winning STEM programs, inclusive, equitable programs and services, a focus on social-emotional learning and growth, and of course academic rigor. Our 16 schools and two specialized programs are diverse and comprehensive. In fact, I would argue that our diversity is one of our biggest strengths. K-12 students who are exposed to other students with different backgrounds can benefit from improved cognitive skills, including critical thinking and problem solving, as well as empathy, tolerance, and respect.
I myself have a vested interest in Brandywine's success, not only as Superintendent but also as an alumnus of Concord High School and parent in this district. My oldest daughter is a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, and I currently have daughters who attend Springer Middle School and Carrcroft Elementary. For their futures, and for the futures of the 10,500 students who call BSD home, I will continue to work tirelessly to help all students learn, grow, and prosper. It is an enormous responsibility for all of us who work in BSD, but more importantly it is a great privilege. Helping young people become their best selves is why my colleagues and I became educators.
If I can be of service to you or your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
