Food Distribution During COVID-19 School Closure

  • The Brandywine School District is committed to meeting the nutritional needs of students during this difficult period while practicing safe social distancing. The School Nutrition Department will distribute Meals To Go every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while schools are closed. Students (with or without a parent or guardian) can go to Maple Lane Elementary, Claymont Elementary, Lancashire Elementary, Mount Pleasant Elementary, P.S. duPont Middle, or Mount Pleasant High School from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students will be offered a choice of a hot or cold Meal To Go by a School Nutrition staff member and will also receive a Breakfast To Go meal.  *We ask that families who drive to pick up meals display a piece of paper with the number of meals requested and open their trunk/hatch/tailgate so staff can place the meals inside the trunk with minimal interpersonal contact.*

In addition, School Nutrition and Transportation are collaborating to deliver Meals To Go to identified community hubs in our district via our BSD school buses. Students who reside near those hubs will receive a phone call with the delivery schedule and pickup location.

We have also added two buses to serve more schools. Starting Wednesday, March 25, the following schedule will be followed. *This is in addition to the existing bus routes to the community AND the schools listed above.* These added locations will also distribute food on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while school is out.
