Welcome to ESL at Lancashire
Lancashire Elementary provides ESL services to students whose native language is not English. Our students are extraordinary—with nearly 30 English Language Learners coming from many different countries. Our students’ diversity enriches every aspect of the learning experience.
Lancashire provides language support services using primarily an inclusion/push-in model that allows us to provide direct language instruction and regular classroom support based on students’ needs. Our program is designed to help students develop English language proficiency in order to meet district and Common Core State Standards, to access the mainstream curriculum, and toprovide educational opportunities to become responsible citizens who use English to communicate with others. Instruction of each ELL student is determined by their level of English language proficiency. Students develop competencies in the four language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
