Payment Options

  • Brandywine School District offers families an online system called SchoolCafe.  You can either download an app or visit the website directly.  On SchoolCafe, you can do things like make payments, receive low balance alerts, view school menus, and apply for meal benefits. Students can answer polls, look at menus, and rate menu items.

    If you’d like to apply for meal benefits, you can go onto SchoolCafe and follow the prompts for Eligibility Benefits. If you’d rather use the paper application you can download it below and return it to your child’s school cafeteria. Your notice of eligibility will be mailed to you within 10 business days.

    We know that sometimes life gets in the way and families can sometimes fall behind in lunch payments.  Students can charge up to $10.00 at the cafeteria. Here’s what happens in the event of a negative balance.

    Negative balance notices are emailed or sent home to K-8 parents on a weekly basis.  Students in grades 9-12 are reminded by the cafeteria cashier.   

    When a negative balance reaches $25.00 or more, parents will receive a letter and a call.  If the balance reaches $50.00 or more, School Nutrition will meet with the school to determine whether a student is a hardship case or whether a payment plan is needed to pay the debt.

    In the event of a returned check due to insufficient funds...

    A letter will be mailed to parents when a check is returned to the School Nutrition Department due to insufficient funds.  Parents will need to repay the School Nutrition Department for the amount of the check plus a return processing fee of $5 within 20 days of parent notification.  If payment is not received within 20 days, the School Nutrition Department will negatively adjust the child's lunch account for the amount of the check plus the $5 processing fee.
